Hannah Kanu, from Freetown in Sierra Leone, is a second-year student of the Master’s in Law of International Trade and Dispute Resolution at the HSE University Faculty of Law. With 2024 coming to an end, the HSE News Service has asked students to reflect on the year gone by and their time at the university in general. In this instalment, Hannah talks about discovering Russia and the rewards and challenges of studying in Moscow—including the Russian word she finds the most difficult.

Ikenna Mbata, from Owerri, Nigeria, is a student of the Master’s in Science, Technology and Innovation Management and Policy at ISSEK in Moscow. Syed Zeeshan Raza Zaidi is a 23-year-old international student from Karachi, Pakistan. He is currently a first-year master’s student in Cognitive Neuroscience at HSE University in Moscow seeking to explore the complexities of human behaviour and cognition from a multidisciplinary perspective. HSE Students Present Anti-Fraud Application at DeFi Hack 2024 Blockchain Hackathon
The grand finale of Sber's international hackathon for Web3 developers, DeFi Hack 2024, concluded with five finalist teams. A total of 145 teams from 31 regions of Russia, as well as Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Serbia, participated in the competition.
Languages in Digital Environment and Music Production: New Programmes at HSE University
The Academic Council of HSE University has established three new educational programmes. For the first time, in 2025, HSE University in St. Petersburg will enrol students in the Bachelor's programme in ‘Texts, Languages, and Digital Tools‘ and the Master's programme in ‘Applied Linguistics: Foreign Language Teaching and Translation in the Digital Environment,’ and at HSE University in Moscow—in the Master's programme ‘Producer in the Music Industry.’

Applications for ‘Study Tour Experience’ Now Open
HSE ‘Study Tour Experience’ is a unique project for international applicants who want to experience what it's like to be an HSE master’s student. The international training internship by the HSE International Admissions Office has been functioning since 2020 in two formats (offline and online) and in two languages—Russian and English. In the autumn semester of the 2024/25 academic year, the internship will take place November 11–23. The application deadline is October 13.
