In July, IBM brought 70 of the best students from across Europe to Prague for the annual IBM Best Student Recognition Event. Representing the Higher School of Economics at the forum was Alexei Khokhlov, a graduate of the Faculty of Business Informatics and a Master’s student in the E-business programme.
Applied Cultural Studies Programme Offering New Museum Studies Courses
In the new academic year, HSE’s Master’s Programme in Applied Cultural Studies is offering three new courses developed together with the Polytechnic Museum, Reinwardt Academie (Amsterdam, Netherlands), and the University of Leicester's School of Museum Studies (Leicester, Great Britain). The courses are called ‘Museology,’ ‘Museums in the Digital Age,’ and ‘Curating in the Modern Museum’.

HSE Students Take Home Bronze at World Programming Contest
On July 25, the World Final of the International Collegiate Programming Contest, sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), took place in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The HSE was represented at the competition by a team of graduates – Vyacheslav Alipov, Mikhail Kolupayev, and Alexander Kuprin – from the master's programme of HSE’s Joint Department with Yandex, which is part of the Faculty of Computer Science's School of Applied Mathematics and Information Science. The team took home the bronze medal, finishing in 10th place.
Master in Comparative Social Research Open Day
On June 16, 2014, the International Master in Comparative Social Research Open Day will be held at the HSE. The event is organized by the HSE Faculty of Sociology in Moscow and St. Petersburg together with the Laboratory of Comparative Social Research.
HSE and GDF Suez Partnership: Results of the First Academic Year

The programme is being carried out with the cooperation of several international companies. HSE and University of Bologna sign new agreement on dual-degree programme
Students in HSE’s Political Analysis and Public Policy master’s programme who have studied for at least a semester at the University of Bologna and successfully defended their thesis will be able to receive degrees from both universities. Similarly, Italian students who study for a semester or a year at the HSE will have the same opportunity.
